On the April 21, the Supreme Court heard a case regarding strip searching in schools, however, they didn't strip search a faculty member or an adult. The school searched a thirteen-year-old girl.
Why did the school treat their students as though they were in an airport security line rather than in school? Because they were looking for aspirins and other low strength drugs. What evidence did the school have to warrant a search? A hunch and a tip from another young girl. Today the girl who was searched is nineteen but she was left emotionally scared.
The school totally stepped out of line. Why would a responsible adult take such drastic actions just on a tip from a girl who was trying to get out of trouble? I totally agree that we should eradicate drugs and drug abuse in our schools, but it goes too far when we treat honor students like criminals in a jail.
If the Supreme Court rules in favor of the school and upholds the strip searching policy in every public learning institutions, the Court will set a dangerous precedent that will leave kids all over America begging even more not to go to school, only then they'll actually have a good reason.
